University Council update- September 2025

   Spring Financial & Management Report

  • Student Party SAM provided a Positive Advice after several rounds of questions to the Executive Board. We ensured that points of unclarity in the report will be further clarified going forward.

   2nd & 3rd Money Streams

  • SAM also gave a Positive Advice on the Action Plan, but only after raising serious concerns about:
    – Risks to academic freedom
    – Possible reduction in education quality
    – Lack of engagement with faculties & councils
    – Missing overarching strategy. After discussions, we reached a positive conclusion under conditions linked to these concerns.

   Stance on Palestine

  • The 31st Board of Student Party SAM reaffirmed our stance on the ongoing genocide in Palestine and urged the Executive Board to reconsider the Advisory Committee on Collaborations’ advice. We acknowledge the lack of direct action in previous years and have been committed to fulfilling our oath to represent ALL students and their concerns.

   Additional Points

Digital student card & TiU app | Update

  • We requested an update on the progress of SAM’s approved initiative on a new, unified TiU app with a digital student card. The Executive Board will provide a written update soon.

Tilburg University Cultural Day | initiative

  • SAM announced we will hand in an initiative to create a Cultural Day at TiU. This day will celebrate diversity, strengthen community, and counteract fragmentation risks posed by policies like the WIB.
