University Council Update – April 2024

The 4th University Council we discussed at length the new profiling fund policy lines. During this conversation we made a strong case for compensating students who want to do a board year. In the discussion with the executive board we found that certain parts of this policy were still unclear. Therefore we decided to not give consent during this council meeting.

The position of the student-assessor was discussed. We stated that we understand that this is a valuable addition to the executive board in an advisory role but also pointed out that student representation should be done by the democratically elected students in the university council.

The executive board also reacted to our initiative proposal from the last University Council where we requested to set up a digital and physical wellbeing point for students where they can ask well-being related questions and find a sympathetic ear. In response to our proposal, the executive proposed an exploration of students’ needs and how the university can better match student search strategies. The need for a well-being point is included in this exploration.

After the great success of the last Wellbeing Awareness Week, we submitted an initiative together with TiGeAK requesting an annual budget. This is to ensure the future of this event!

We also submitted a memo to call for attention to providing the student boards of Building Tias and Montesquieu with emergency response training (BHV).

In addition, we as SAM are busy ensuring sustainability and recycling. Therefore, we have submitted a memo for the expansion of the submission points for the deposit of cans and bottles.
