A lunch lecture (a so called lunchlezing) is a fun, interactive and accessible event to better inform first, second and third year students about the possibilities for after their studies. A lunch lecture is organised in collaboration with a company. They inform students about what they do, what their discipline entails, and what their added value to the labour market are and what they can offer future employees. For students it is the opportunity to orientate themselves to the labour market in a fun way. In addition, students are offered a free lunch by the visiting company. At the moment, it is not allowed to have lunch in lecture halls and rooms. Because of that it is currently impossible to organise lunch lectures on our campus. Therefore, Student Party SAM asked Tilburg University to look into the possibility of introducing these events at our university. The essence of what SAM asks is that the university makes an exception to the rule which will allow students to eat in the lecture halls during events, therefore making labour market orientated events such as lunch lectures possible. This small adjustment for the university will help a lot of students better orientate themselves on the labour market.
