Both fractie SAM and fractie Front saw a great need for a bicycle repair shop on the campus. This resulted in a joint initiative for a bicycle repair shop. This resulted in a joint initiative for a bicycle repairer in October 2016. However, this initiative contained two very different views on how to meet the need. SAM opted for the social initiative of Enactus, Save a Bike, in which the bicycles are refurbished by reintegration staff. Front chose a commercial bicycle repair shop.
The reaction of the Board shows that the university agrees with our vision: They will give the project of Enactus, Save a Bike, a chance! Save a Bike is located in the apartments of Professor Verbernelaan, and will repair bicycles there. When New Building 2 in 2021 frees up space on the campus for a bicycle maker, Enactus’ social initiative will be given priority in the allocation.
